Event Summary

While we might initially have a vision of a final destination in our career, the actual journey to get there often isn’t as straightforward as initially planned. However, there is great value in the unforeseen routes you might stumble upon along the way. In this virtual livestream, Erik Mikkelsen, HBA '06, co-founder and Managing Partner of Auxo Management LP, and the President and Chief Revenue Officer of Stealth Monitoring Inc., a leading North American video monitoring and security company, shares his journey through entrepreneurship and the detours within his career where he found new avenues for opportunity.

 

During this event developed in collaboration with the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, Mikkelsen is joined by Eric Morse, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Executive Director of the Morrissette Institute, to discuss his journey across industries in New York, L.A., Toronto, and Dallas, Texas, the leadership lessons he learned along the way, and how he honed his ability to recognize opportunity in unexpected places.

President & CRO, Stealth Monitoring; Managing Partner of Auxo Management LP

Erik is currently the President & CRO of Stealth Monitoring, a 1,800+ person high-tech video surveillance company, and Managing Partner of Auxo Management LP, a private investment firm he co-founded in 2010.

Prior to Stealth and Auxo, Erik gained professional business experience in private equity, investment banking, and start-ups. Throughout his career he has worked on over $30 billion of executed transactions, ranging in size from under a million dollars to several billion. Erik was previously in the acquisitions group at Regent Properties, a real estate private equity firm in Los Angeles. Prior to Regent, he was an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance Group at Barclays Capital in New York. Before moving to New York, Erik co-led the Business Development department of Ink Media, a new media development company he co-founded.

Erik graduated with Distinction from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, where he received his Honours Business Administration (HBA). In 2014 Erik was the co-recipient of the Ivey Emerging Leaders Award for Entrepreneurship and in 2018 was the recipient of the Class of 2006 Ivey Entrepreneurship Ambassador Award. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Council for Western University, an Advisor for the Western Alumni Angels Network, and a member of the Advisory Board for Ivey Business School. Erik also completed Executive Education focused on Artificial Intelligence for Business at the MIT Sloan School of Management and MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).

Erik is an active investor and advisor in several start-ups and is an active community volunteer. In 2013 he co-founded CAMH Engage, a group of professionals focused on strategy and fundraising initiatives in support of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation. He is also a member of YPO (Young President’s Organization) and has lectured at business schools in Canada and the United States. Erik was born in London, England and grew up in Western Canada where he was an ice hockey and lacrosse player.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GETTING THE CAMPAIGN ID
  1. This can only be retrieved after the campaign has been created in Salesforce.
  2. Go to the Campaigns tab in Salesforce. 
  3. Either using the dropdown filters, or by doing a search from the top search bar, find the campaign you have created for the event. Click on that campaign.
  4. On the Campaign record page, within the URL there is an ID after /r/Campaign/. The ID is made up of numbers and letters (ex. /r/Campaign/7011Y000001mxZYQAY/view)
  5. Copy that ID.
  6. In the default value section of the left hand toolbar, replace the text " CAMPAIGN ID HERE" with the ID you copied from Salesforce.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR GETTING THE FORM ID
  1. After you have renamed this form and saved it as a new version, copy the 7 digit number at the end of the url in your browser and paste it into the default value field for this form. 
  2. Alternatively, you can right click on the little icon in the left hand column of this page that looks like a cloud with an arrow inside and open that in a new tab. In the top section of the page that opens, there will be the public link to the form which will have the 7 digit number you need to use at the end of that link. 
  3. This is also the number you will use to paste into Umbraco for the iveyacademy.ca website to be able to link to the proper form for registrants to access.
